Explore Singapore without crossing the causeway!
With the Covid-19 pandemic, the travel industry is virtually non-existent, especially international travel. In Malaysia, we’re even restricted in travel within one own’s state for pretty much the past year or so and understandably many of us are yearning for that freedom to travel once more.
Even going to Singapore, a short drive from Johor Bahru is no longer possible as of now. Well, if you miss visiting our neighbour Singapore, then why not open the Twitch app on your devices and take an interactive virtual taxi ride across the country?
As reported by Travel and Leisure, the Singapore Tourism Board has partnered up with the popular streaming platform to host four live streams called Singapore by Stream which allows anyone watching from all over the world to virtually visit the country. The streams will visit landmarks and hidden gems of Singapore in a choose-your-own-adventure style livestream.
The Singapore Tourism Board in a statement explained,
“The taxi driver and a host will help give an insider guide to Singapore, sharing tips on where to find the best chicken satay and kaya toast and making stops along the way to show the best of Singapore while we’re still stuck at home,”
Furthermore, viewers are also encouraged to engage with the taxi drivers throughout the experience to ‘create the feeling that they too are canvasing the Lion City while travel remains on hold.’
You can view the livestream here. It successfully went live last Thursday (25 March 2021) and will be live again tonight at 8pm.
