Brentwood School is delighted to announce its next whole school open morning. These are held multiple times a year across the prep and senior schools and as lockdown restrictions begin to ease, the school is excited to welcome back visitors and students-to-be.
A covid-safe event
The event will be Covid-safe, and the in-person event and will mainly take place outside. There will be various safety measures in place including one-way systems and staggered arrival times, each visitor will be allocated an arrival time in order to maintain social distancing. There is plenty of space on the 75-acre campus for guests to tour the facilities and pre-recorded headmaster presentations will be sent to attendees in advance.
The school said: “After an unprecedented year, we can’t wait to ‘throw open our doors.’ Despite 12-months of on/off national restrictions, our students and staff have risen to the extraordinary challenge: Our remote learning programme was universally acclaimed and work was completed on a major building project at the Prep School revealing state-of-the-art facilities.
“Our aptly-named Virtual Music Land (VML) bore testament to the character of our enthusiastic Performing Arts students who, undeterred, performed 26 concerts, six services, two musicals and 109 YouTube projects during lockdown! VML alone received 60,000+ views from around the world.
“Over the same period, more than 8000 individual videos were submitted by students; Super Saturday live virtual workouts kept the entire school community on its toes, and virtual Sports Days, Open Days, Speech Days, and a live-streamed Remembrance Service ensured it was ‘business as usual.’
“Now we are back on campus and we can’t wait for you to come and see for yourself why Brentwood School shines out as a beacon of excellence and enjoys an unparalleled local reputation.”
An ethos based on virtue, learning, and manners
Brentwood School’s ethos is clear, embodying values of virtue, learning, and manners, which have been the same since 1557, shaped by its Christian foundations.
Pupils at Brentwood School are confident without being arrogant, they look out for each other, they do the right thing, even when no-one is looking and they respect difference: you will see a footballer enjoying lunch with a chorister and a dance captain running a recycling project with a young chess enthusiast.
The dedicated staff at Brentwood help pupils to solve problems. In partnership with parents, they teach them to persevere after setbacks, adopt a growth mindset and challenge the norm. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions in class and take control of their own learning. Of course, they work hard and enjoy great success in and out of the classroom, and once they’ve left, many go on to use and develop their leadership skills and achieve beyond their expectations, always remembering what Brentwood has taught them.
